THE MAKER
Hi! I'm Holly, a 30 year old traditional felt hat-maker from Stoke-on-Trent, UK.
I began learning how to hat block in 2019 after having previously delved into cardboard and papier-mâché costume creation and E.V.A foam festival hats. I am entirely self taught from reading online forums, watching videos and a LOT of trial and error.
THE MATERIALS
All my handmade felt hats are made from 100% wool felt, hand stiffened and shaped to size, then embellished with either surface paint or pyrography designs inlayed with paint. Inner bands are made from faux leather and hand sewn in.
the DESIGNS
All designs and sewing patterns - such as the reversible berets - are 100% original and were created by myself through prototypes and trial and error. This also means they can be created for any size.
All pyrography or paint designs are my own and drawn up by myself unless stated otherwise.
I do plan to collaborate with other artists on certain designs and embellishments in the future and this will all be revealed early next year!
